Thirty-nine square metres is generous for a standard room in a regional town. You have space to lay out a day pack, dry a pair of socks on the balcony rail and still walk around the bed. The work desk earns its keep on a touring trip: it is where maps, chargers and the next day's water bottles end up.
Tourism NT's listing text describes either one king bed or two queens for this category, while its summary line shows one king. Treat the twin set-up as a separate room type, described on the Standard Twin page, and ask for the bed you want.
How you will use it
You leave at 7am with breakfast in you, back at 3pm with red dust on your boots. Use the balcony or courtyard for shaking out the dust rather than the bathroom floor. Fill the minibar fridge with your own water for the next morning only if the hotel allows it; ask at check-in, because minibars that sense removed items are common in chain hotels and we could not confirm how this one works.
In the evening, room service from the Crowne Plaza menu is an option when you are too tired to sit in a restaurant. The operator publishes that menu as a download on its room service page.
What the listing does not tell you
- Which direction the room faces. Ranges, pool and golf course views are named only for the premium category.
- Whether the bathroom has the walk-in shower from the 2018 works; 139 of the 205 rooms were refurbished.
- Television size today. The 26-inch figure in the listing predates the refurbishment.
- Pack for this room
- A power board or a multi-port USB charger: phone, camera, headlamp and GPS all want charging at once
- A small dry bag to keep dusty gear apart from clean clothes
- Reusable bottles you can fill the night before
Two adults on a short stay, travelling light, using the hotel as somewhere to sleep between long days: this is your room. If you want to spend afternoons inside with a view, compare Premium.
