We follow the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988. This is the plain version.
What we collect
Only what you type into the room request form: your name, email address, phone number if you give one, the number of guests, arrival and departure dates, the room type, the purpose of the trip, your notes, and your consent. The form also records which page you sent it from. We do not ask for card details, ever.
Why
To answer your request: to check availability and the rate with the hotel or its booking partner, and to email or call you back. We pass on only the details needed for that. We do not sell, rent or trade your details, and we do not add you to a mailing list.
What we do not collect
- No cookies are set by this site.
- No analytics, counters, advertising tags or social media pixels run on these pages.
- No account, no login, no profile.
The Google map
On the home page the map is a button. It loads Google Maps only when you press it, and at that point Google receives your IP address and the usual browser information under its own privacy policy. On the Getting here page the map is embedded directly and loads when you scroll to it. Links to Google Maps open Google's site.
Hosting and email
The site is hosted on DigitalOcean servers in Sydney and served through Cloudflare, which processes connection data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and block attacks. Cloudflare operates internationally, so some of that processing may happen outside Australia. Email to hello@ is delivered through Cloudflare's email routing to our mailbox.
How long we keep it
We keep a request for as long as we need it to answer you and to confirm whether a stay went ahead, and no longer than that needs. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to hello@alicespringsbasecamp.com. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. oaic.gov.au.
