Meetings and groups

Conferences next door, and rooms for the whole group

The Alice Springs Convention Centre adjoins the hotel. Here are its published capacities and what to sort out early.

The convention centre describes itself as the only purpose-built convention centre in Central Australia. It shares the 93 Barrett Drive address and is linked to the hotel and casino by accessible routes, according to its accessibility guide. For an organiser, that means delegates walk from room to plenary without a shuttle.

Two figures conflict across the operator's and the centre's pages: the number of separate areas, and the minimum group size. We print both rather than pick one. The centre's planning team will give you the current floor plan.

Off-site venues the centre names

For dinners and field days, the centre lists Outback Quarry, the Telegraph Station, Simpsons Gap and Ooraminna Station Homestead. Simpsons Gap is 24 km from the hotel by road and the Telegraph Station 7.4 km, so both work as an afternoon add-on to a day of sessions. The courtyard gives you the ranges without leaving the building.

Freight and logistics

Shipping exhibition material to the middle of the continent is a project. The centre mentions a 20 per cent freight offer with Toll Express for events. Ask for the details when you book the space.

Weddings

The centre has a weddings page, but it publishes no capacities or packages there. Treat the room figures above as a guide and ask the events team directly.

Booking rooms for a group

  1. Fix the event dates with the convention centre first.
  2. Send one request through our desk with the number of rooms, the mix of king and twin, and arrival and departure dates.
  3. Mention accessibility needs per delegate. The convention centre's guide lists staff help with luggage, buffet service, medication refrigeration and personal emergency evacuation plans.
  4. Ask about a late check-out on the final day; packages on the operator's site include 12pm, but group terms are separate.

Our desk handles accommodation only. Space, catering and audio-visual are booked with the convention centre.

Getting delegates in

The airport lists direct flights from Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Melbourne and Sydney, plus Tennant Creek. The airport shuttle charged $23 one way per adult when we checked, and the drive to the hotel is 12.3 km. Full details on Getting here.
